2018 Book List

I like to read. Here’s what I’ve read so far this year from most to least recent.

Bullies [Ben Shapiro]

Ben identifies several segments of American society and calls them out for using bully tactics to achieve their political goals. He discusses Environmental Bullies, Anti-Patriotic Bullies, Secular Bullies, Institutional Bullies, Sex Bullies, Class Bullies, and Race Bullies. Having listened to a fair amount of his podcasts, it was hard not to read the book in his ultra-fast voice. This book is a good reminder that politics is a big club, and you’re not in it.

Artemis [Andy Weir]

Fun and easy to read quickly. I like when characters are placed in conflict with nature and have to use their wits to survive. It’s a cool story when it’s set on Earth (Hatchet, Swiss Family Robinson, Robinson Crusoe, etc.), but it’s even cooler in space. My only complaint is that some of the dialog feels unnatural because for some reason every character has to be witty and sarcastic at all times. In real life, people don’t always have a snappy comeback (except me!).
